 I prefer to stay away from the aluminum, had enough problems rethreading the
AL mounts at the oil pan. There's a story in itself!  At the very bottom of
the dif is a flat spot which can be tapped, but I think 3/8 doesn't leave that
much meat and my go to the edge of the built up area. If memory serves me
correctly mine is a 1/4"NPT, but I'd have to check that out to be sure.

Since I'm replacing my differential, I would like to put a drain plug in it.
What's the best place? Looks to me like in the aluminum rear cover.

Is this a 3/8 UNF?
