- I've had less than stellar success with my 2/4/8amp BatteryMinder. It seems to work okay as a normal over-the-weekend charger but I haven't had much success recovering 3 AGM batteries that my APC UPS

- They can (AGM is lead-acid, just with the acid held in a fiberglass mat); but it's a much less common failure mode. As Doug said, they usually fail by loss of electrolyte and no charger can fix that
