I am about buying new tyres for my spitfire mk3. original size would be 145 13R it is quit difficult to find 165/85 13R is a more common size and has only -1.53% difference to the original spec. or 1

Standard tyre size for a Spit should be 155SR13, not 145. You should find a choice of tyres at this size at any tyre shop, they are a very standard size. Sounds like someone has put some funny tyres
