Why don't you try a door alarm switch. If the voltage is too low you could route the low voltage switch through a relay that will handle the high voltage current for the light. I know Radio Shack US

As someone already suggested, there are all sorts of hidden switches for alarm systems. But you're quite right, they won't handle much current. My suggestion would be a relay. RS has one listed with
