Joe -- I think the 'correct' grille would be flat. When I replaced mine (about 20 years ago) the replacement available was a bit too tall for the opening. Something had to give and I made it concave.

At Triumphest last year TRF had their new TR3A grill on display. It is indeed improvement over the standard replacement grills, being made of stouter metal, and a much 'sharper' stamping. It's priced
