Thise problem is a common one. The key is not always a tight fit, nor does it need to be. One solution is to put some heavy grease in the slot before you put the key in. The heavy grease will help to

As I pushed the pulley on, my key slid up as well. I put the tip of a screwdriver on it and gently tapped it back down and under the pulley. A few taps on the pulley and it went in a bit but the key
