You say that the base plate *can* move, but can you be sure that it *does* move? I'd say that IMHO a problem of this kind would show up at all revs, not just tickover speed. "choking" implies a fuel

With the TR6 it's always a good time to check into electronic ignitions. Also the car will run like crap no matter what if the timing is set at 4 degrees ATDC like it's supposed run it about 8-12 BTD

Pertronix "Ignitor", real simple, solid, eliminates most of the wobble problems with the plate, shaft, and bushings. I plug the retard at the car fitting with a 1" piece of rubber tube and rod/screw
