I am about to replace the cylinder head on my TR4. Found a crack in the original one after blowing the gasket a couple of weeks ago. What a bummer suffering serious down time in the middle of summer!

Ok, am I going to be the first one on the list to elucidate The Rope Trick? :-). Here goes: If you get all of the nuts holding the head off and everything removed and you can't get the head to break

I have a crack in the old head for my 4... The crack is across the rearmost water jacket ports... acording to my friendly local machinist the head didn't need replacing... Now had the crack connected

I pulled my TR head a while back, using rope, levers, and linguistics. In my case, I was hoping the liners _would_ come loose, but no such luck, they may as well be welded in place. My limited exper

The figure 8 gaskets form a seal between the bottoms of the wet liners and the block, thereby stopping your coolant mixing with your oil (and vice versa, he said, redundantly!)
