I haven't looked close at mine, so I coule be way off, but -- could it be that it's supposed to rotate 90 degrees to *unlocked*, where you can't remove the key? I.e., you can't get the key back unti

I would have to say that the key is restricted at the open position so you have a "positive stop" that allows you to open the door using the key as a knob so to speak. It also keeps the keys from fal
