- I've been trying now for 3 days to paint the metal shift boot with lacquer paint and can NOT get anything except splotchy dull, shinny and in between finish. Since I am NOT a paint person can anyone

- Brian I am no expert on paint but it sounds like either to slow of a reducer (thinner) or to humid where you are spraying or the metal was too cold causing "blushing" but usually not this time of yea

- Brian: Lacquer dries faster the enamel unless you use an extender to slow the drying process. I usually wet sand lacquer with 400 and 600 wet or dry paper, and then buff it to get the shine. Buff it

- Thanks, I did strip down to bare metal but not sure if the primer I used was laquer or not? I think I'll switch paint. I was under the assumption that laquer was best. Thanks all Brian == Original Me
