Cool....swap the trans and O/D from the 1500 right into the MKIV. You will need to change the flywheel and clutch assy also as the spline on the 1500 trans has 20? splines v. 10? for the 1296. You w

The swap is fairly straight forward and already covered in previous posts with one exception. The overdrive mount from the 1500 will not bolt to the 72 frame. The bolt hole pattern was changed from a

Thanks everyone for the responses. It seems to be a straightforward procedure, and a heck of a lot cheaper than a Type-D unit. The way I'll probably end up doing it is using the 1500 flywheel/clutch/
