I would like to do be able to do light duty home and automotive welding - mostly sheet metal, and nothing more than 1/8 inch thick is ever likely. I have never done it before, but have been reading T

Reading the maiual from the HF web site, I noticed: 1: It's 220 volts, but I'm sure you know that. 2: It has a rather crude power output control, with two toggle switches. It might be a hassle gettin

For "starters", consider going to school. I think the class I took cost $300 a quarter but gave me hands on instruction on stick, gas, mig, and tig. Also instruction on using cutting torches, carbon

I was at your stage a while ago. I've learned a bit about what a MIG can and cannot do. First of all, the HF unit doesn't appear to have the gear you'll need to gas weld (regulator, etc.). I haven't

One point I haven't seen discussed here is seeing. I agree with Bob about the auto darkening helmet. But, do you where glasses? Bifocals? I where bifocals. When I started mig welding I'd keep my glas

I guess I'm missing something ... why not just wear a pair of reading glasses in your prescription ? I've not done any welding since I started needing bifocals, but I've got reading glasses scattere

I'm in the same boat as John. I have some astigmatism and I'm "moderately" (around 20/350) nearsighted. I wear line-less bifocals most of the time but have a regular pair of bifocal safety glasses I
