since my power company is a private company rather than a coop they do not provide nay type of discount for Geothermal heating systems, or any type of comparisons, but I installed one anyway about 16

There may also be some tax incentives for installing a GSHP. I know draft versions of this year's energy bill had some new ones; I don't know how they ended up. And a fair number of states offer tax

To add one more... I recently had to replace the furnace and air conditioner on my house. Actually the furnace was still working, but the air conditioner died so we replaced both as a package deal.
