An additional item when dealing with today's fuels. If you used sloshing compound in your fuel tank back in the 80s as I did, be aware that today's fuel may start dissolving the compound. Most of th

Maybe that was true of the old sloshing fluids as you call them. But I lined my tank with the latex for aircraft about 20 years ago and fortunately have not had any problems - it seems to hold up ver

To avoid this problem, I installed a modern electric fuel pump cost $20.00 very close to the tank. This supplier fuel to the original pump and it does not have to work as hard - saving its life. Also

If your original pump is running, it is working just as hard as if it were pumping all by itself and the points are burning as quickly. Both pumps have check valves in them and will pump through the

I notice several references to a backup fuel pump in series with the SU pump in MGs. Not a bad idea but a couple of cautions. First, in the MG, make sure the backup pump is also a low pressure pump.

The pump that I recommend in my article on permanently installed back up pumps is the low pressure Facet pump. This pump puts out a pressure (2.5 - 4 PSI) that is the equivalent of the SU high press

Running two pumps in series will double the fuel pressure. Just like two batteries in series will double the voltage. Be careful you don't have too much pressure. I believe the TD Mark II had two fue

The tank in our TD had several rust holes in it that I had to repair when I restored the car. You are correct, the pressure of pumps in series is additive. Put since the pumps rarely deliver the max
