As far as I know, the only motors which came even remotely close to 150 bhp were the fuel injected TR 5 and 6 motors. All of the TR-2 through 6 motors were right around 105 hp, depending on compressi

I recently bought a '68 Mark I GT6 and am wondering how to tell if the motor is original. It 's a series one motor with the old-style head, but the serial number prefix is KD, and all the books I've

KD is the prefix for "smog-controlled" Mk.2 (+) engines. Perhaps an earlier head was bolted to a later block? Engine numbers often are within a few hundred of the commission number. Actually, there's

I really hate contradicting you, but.....Later MKI's had engines with lower compression ratios (8.5:1 vs the earlier 9.5:1) and were marked with the "KD" prefix. The first round of emission standard

Karl, I happily stand corrected on all points. This doesn't surprise me, except that I've usually found factory workshop manuals to be fairly accurate in such details. Obviously, that is NOT the case

The parts catalogs I have describe engine parts by commission number of the vehicle. My '68 TR 250 does not have the original engine nor does my '71 TR 6 bone car (I assume). I would like to at least

I have seen one or two engines like this and was told that they'd been factory replacement engines that somehow just didn't get numbered. A bit more likely, though, is the possibility that the block

Sounds like the last machine shop to touch your block has "decked" the mating surface of the block where the head sits. Probably an uneeded job, but does make for a nice even mating surface, especia

Could be, however the cylinder volumes were equal from the factory, and unless damaged thru stupidity or slightly warped (determined with a good straightedge), I would not recommend this procedure.
