Google Sketchup. I've used it a little for my own "remodeling" fantasies, and I know some woodworkers use it to design projects, etc. It's free, and it's from Google, so you know it's good. Not sure

I have an old program that was windows 3.1 based program that does a great It does a 2D drawing, then you can render a 3D view and walk thoughts. It also complied a material list. Even better, it was

The "Punch" (www.punchsoftware.com) series of software is nice for conceptualizing and the learning curve is quite shallow compared to AutoCAD (which I suffered through in school). I used Punch Archi
