Sounds like a fuel problem,have you tried priming the pump before starting from cold? Cameron TR3

I would imagine that your problem must be fuel, it would seem that your fuel is draining out of the carb and back to the tank. To test this theory take out the plugs turn the engine over a few times

I suspect your float levels are too low and it takes a lot of cranking to fill the fuel chambers. If you check them, you might also cosider replacing your metering jets with Grose jets. Bob Roberts
