Aren't the standard SU carbs on a SRL 38mm?? I got a illustrated buyers guide for Datsun Sports Cars and it claims they were 44's but I thought that was only for the Solex carbs. Related question: I'

I do believe that the SPL had the 38mm SU's as the L-Series and the 44mm are exclusive to the SRL's and Z's. Tom Prather /// datsun-roadsters@autox.team.net mailing list

That auction was wrong and the seller didn't know what he had. The manifolds for L, R and U are all different. The 38mm carbs for the L-series are mirrors like the 2000 SUs, and the linkage is differ

The SRL carbs are 44mm or 1.75" and use .100 needles and nozzles. The 1600s used 38mm or 1.5" SUs with .090 needles and nozzles. Mike guide for Datsun Sports Cars and it claims they were 44's but I t

Both are wrong. The SU's on the 2000 are 46mm. To be exact, the carbs are Hitachi HJG46W's. The number in the carb type indicates the throat size. 44mm are the Solex's - but they of course have 4 thr

Brian is right. I may have caused this confusion when I typed 44 in a post not too long ago. They are 46s. However the flow issue isn't quite so straight forward. If you run all the carbs through a s

Actually, the 2 litre SU's are 46mm. The Mikuni carbs are 44mm, but of course, you have one 44mm throat for each cylinder, instead of one 46mm SU feeding two cylinders. Greg Burrows /// datsun-roadst

instead of one 46mm SU feeding two cylinders. It does not matter. The cylinders do not draw at the same time. When piston bore all by itself. Same for the Z, which has three pistons per carb. /// da

In "historic" racing, the 240Z's are using two 2" SU's from Jaguar(?) Power limit seems to be about 220 hp with those carbs. Same engine with Weber 45DCOE makes another 10% power. Thomas /// datsun-r
