I guess my confusion arose as a result of the A-mod class structure. As someone mentioned, maybe it would help the class if it were truly unlimited. If the rules change such that FSAE cars can run,

Keeping in mind that a truly unlimited class may have just the opposite result as you are looking for. When there are no rules, money becomes a bigger factor. Cars get more advanced and more costly.

Some FSAE cars can and do run in AM, Brad. See section 16.5 on page 140 of the 99 rulebook. Texas Region has several from UT-Arlington that show up on a regular basis. And one of them, driven by Dr B

I LOVE to watch that car! However, I was under the impression that the FSAE cars had to be modified somewhat. Another poster mentioned it too. Personally, I can't understand why they have any rules
