- Hi Dennis, did you use the exhaust gaskets between the manifold and head? If so remove and see if noise goes away. Otherwise look for very small exhaust leak. My 72 had a pin hole in a pipe weld and

- Hi Lee, I did use gaskets for a good seal. The noise comes from the muffler and pipe but not in the air around the manifold and is not audible on top. It seems to be a pulse of some kind and is there
