Hi Dennis, did you use the exhaust gaskets between the manifold and head? If
so remove and see if noise goes away. Otherwise look for very small exhaust
leak. My 72 had a pin hole in a pipe weld and made the noise only when cold.
The heavy duty timing gear will make some noise.
