Tony, my first thought is that your voltage stabilizer has failed. Assuming the coolant didn't look cruddy when you changed the thermostat, that is the path I would follow first. Does the gas gauge

Well, I think I am going to have to do something major. I just switched out the sender, and the new one reads the same. So, the Thermostat and sender were not the problem. So, I ran then engine more,

Had a similar problem with the '74 Volvo. It had always run nice and cool, then one day it started to run hot. It wasn't the temp gauge, sender, blockage, etc. Turned out to be a blown head gasket. T

Are you sure the water pump is moving water? Easy to check, crank it up and take a heater hose loose. The water should squirt quite nicely. As I remember the water pump is not too hard to remove and

Good suggestion. I did look carefully at the coolant in the radiator as I let the engine run for a while. I saw no bubbles at all. Leaking head gasket is low on my list as a result. -Tony -- Original

There is an easy test for the VS, just connect a test lamp across either the temp sender or the fuel tank sender and turn the ignition on. If the VS is working, you can see the lamp flash on and off
