HD6 uses the diaphram jet and the HS6 uses the later style external flexible jet. All in all the HD carbs are much easier and much better to maintain. The HS carbs are simpler and a little less prone

Ahhhhh, I think I know this one........The D and the S. But seriously folks. The D type have a rubber diaphragm on the jet, and the S does not use one. Personally I prefer the HS cause the diaphrams
