Both are 1 3/4" throats but the HD series has the totally enclosed lower jet
and gland, with 4 screws securing the float chamber assembly to the base of
the main carb body. The HS series has the external lower jet assembly
exposed, and an external tube running from the base of the float chamber
into the jet.
In Austin Healey applications, the HD6 was installed in later 100/Six's and
early 3000's while the HS6 was installed into the BJ7.
