Stuart, check the jiggle pin on the top RH side of the diff housing. This is a breather hole with a bent cotter stuffed in the hole that wobbles as you drive and (should) keep the breather clear and

It's only a problem when you run out of oil. jack the car up and take a look-see and try to figure out where the oil is coming from. Then make sure the bolts near the source are snug. I'd fill it up

I also have not tackled the differential rebuild but in the past the consensus of the list is that it is not a simple repair, requiring accurate tolerances.? You would probably be better off removin

Removing the diff is very straightforward. Lots of nuts and bolts to undo (prop shaft and drive shaft flanges) and the bolts that secure the diff to the brackets. You may have to drop the exhaust to
