maybe an easier fix... take a piece of heat shrink tubing as long as you can slide on the wire....blow some heat on it with a heat gun OR just shrink the end that's exposed... that will hold it in p

have you though of mounting the battery/charger at floor level and running heavy cable up to the winch.. Maybe a couple of #4 stranded copper cables (or even #2 welding cable) clamped to the gantry

I would also use something protective.... not copper say.... 1/2" black pipe till I got it inside and protected from accidental contact.. and support it with something like vibration damping clamps..
