Hello Rob, although I can't speak from personal experience, POR claims that their stuff will flex with the springs. I have planned on trying it on my springs, since I too am very impressed with POR-1

My frame-up TR6 has 3 years and about 6K miles on it now. I replaced all 4 coil springs with new ones. They were painted, but I lightly sandblasted them and painted them again with Eastwood's Chassi

Many thanks to everyone for your replies. Consensus seems to be any kind of paint will do, POR-15, Rustoleum, etc as long as the springs are cleaned properly. And yup, there was at least one vote for
