No, it doesn't but the posts are different sizes with the negative being smaller. The switches I have are sized for the negative post and it takes some effort to open them up to fit the positive post

Does your battery go low if left disconnected. If not it won't matter what terminal you choose. But if it does, there is internal resistance in the battery and the switch won't help. I'm sure there

'leak'? No, it does not matter. Unless there is some kind of path across the battery case, the circuit will be equally-well interrupted by a switch in either cable. Phil Ethier
