- There's a pipe thread that's close to what's in the block originally. Re-tap them with this, and put brass pipe thread plugs with allen head ends. Just tap it deep enough that at least the front plug

- The issue with trying to machine the block is that in order to true the top surface you have to remove too much metal. All you really want is a thousandth or two off of one side of the block, but...
