Something that I used to do in scale model car work was to polish the plastic windscreens in the kits with toothpaste. It's about as mild as you could ask for and would buff out the minor scratches i

I have used automobile polishing compound to re-finish watch crystals and that worked very well, I have not tried it, but I expect that Polishing compound, (Not rubbing compound) will work as well. J
