Good evening Took out the cam shaft and couple of the cams are pitted. This may be from rust, the enginer sat for 8 years. Is this a serious problem? Anyone have any recommendations as to how to fix

Hi Simon, When you took the lifters (cam followers) out did you arrange them such that you could put them back on the lobes they came off of? If not, reusing the cam becomes a more iffy proposition.

I would not use such a cam in a rebuild. You have to decide which is really less expensive, laying out the cash for a new or reground cam and lifters and installing them now, or having to disassembl
