I have only driven one non-synchro car in my life but the only "technique" was not to put it in first gear (or attempt to put it in first gear) until the car was stationary. -- Eric '68MGB MkII Adela

David, try dropping the car into 2nd gear before selecting 1st gear, but make sure you are stationary before selecting 1st gear! This has worked for me in the past with a non-synchro box on a 1959 MG

As someone else said, drop into 2nd before going into first. That is one of the easiest things to do to make it easier to change gears. Even with that, though, the gears aren't necessarily going to b

One thing I forgot to mention, you let the clutch out while in neutral. It sounds kind of tricky and it is but believe it or not you can get pretty good at it after a few tries. Assuming your in seco

This is making it much too complicated. Here: 1) Come to a stop 2) Push in clutch 3) Ease into first 4) Go 5) Rinse and repeat == David Breneman david_breneman@yahoo.com _____________________________
