The mid clamp came about to stop the hood rail lifting at speed. Many non mid clamp MGA owners added a clamp in the middle of the hood. I suppose it would help you a bit. Mine doesn't have a clamp,

Hi again, My A had the side screens mounted to low and too far forward. Removing the door trim showed about 3 sets of holes made over the years. I bought a hardtop and had to re-fit the sidescreens.
