Can't you just go and get the car weighed? I'm sure there is someplace near you with a scale that would probably do it for free. (There is a scrap metal yard near my home - for example...) Check the

I once had a digital interior/exterior thermometer from Radio Shack that had the external sensor mounted at the end of a long wire. Something like that (about $10?) would probably be your best bet. S
