- Hows this one? Do valve springs loose tension when an engine is assembled but not run? During my tool and die maker apprenticeship I learned that to keep punch press die springs from loosing tension

- Actually the valves in current F1 engines are not pneumatically operated. Nitrogen pressurised pistons replace valve springs in an otherwise conventional overhead cam layout.. Jim in Palmdale
