You probably hit the nail on the head with cost. To manufacture a pump shaft from scratch and have it hardened should cost about $50 USD complete. Regards Peter Vucinic TR-4

I used the 3/8" to 8AN Gauge Adaptor fitting (Russell #670080). I drilled and tapped directly into the oil gallery that runs along the side of the TR4 block. Works a treat. Cheers Peter V WORKS-4

I have rebuilt a number of J types used in racing and have not had any leak to date. I use a Permatex/Loctite product on the gaskets and all mating faces. Here in AUS it is marketed as Loctite Blue

If you are after a simple "eye" bolt, you might want to try a place that sell chains and lifting equipment etc. These "eye" bolts come in both imperial and metric threads and are load rated as well.
