Don't know about the '65's but the '63 and '64 do! Battery was located under the third seat, behind the passenger. I think that the battery location may have changed when the third seat was deleted.

A 240 motor in a roadster has been done, (by Robert Rosenberg, IIRC) but it's a tight fit. I'd try to use a 1600 motor, an R16 to replace that G motor. I'm not sure how many 1500 parts you could use
