Most nissan boxes are a 2 part box with a sandwhich plate in the middle that carries the shafts/gears. These boxes can be split and the front half (read belhousings, but its a little more than that)

Forgot to add, if you want to keep your 1600 box in one piece, datsin/nissan 720's have a bell housing with the starter on the correct side. HTH, James

Hi Mark, unfortunatly most h20's use dished pistons, and when used with an r16 head the compression is always low (which is good for the lead free fuels i guess or if you want to wack a turbo on it ;
