- How's your clutch adjustment? It sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging. Reverse will grind before the forward gears because there is no synchro on reverse. Make sure there is a small amount

- No. There's a collar that is integral to the sending unit about halfway down it's length that bottoms out against a shoulder in the hole. The gland nut bottoms out against the backside of the collar.
