- If you vacuum form a clear plastic over foam, you will not get a nice clear finish on the inside (to see the chromed stacks). It would be textured unless you spray a catalyzed primer over your foam

- You can pick up a small used bench grinder for pretty cheap, maybe $50 or so. Usually they have a grinder wheel and a wire wheel already on them. Just switch out one of the wheels for a buffer wheel
