Pete, I have a couple of covers with the tall oil add tube and I plan to cut out the center section anyway so I'll try removing the tube tomorrow by heating. I'm going to try to replace the flat top

I've made a tool for removing the oil tube. It goes in from the top, engages the two ears at the bottom, and leaves you a 1-1/16 hex for a wrench. It tube wouldn't budge cold but gentle heating with
