Thanks, I think I'd like to investigate the use of aluminum Old's heads assuming I can get them in rebuildable shape. I won't mind modifying them to use more modern valvetrain assemblies if need be,

Seems to me the limiting factor is the ability to deliver the power to the ground; I can't imagine that you could load up the wheels enough to overstress this transmission in a Westfield or Super 7.
