- Are you sure the pivot pin connecting the throwout arm to the bellhousing was securely fastened? These pins have a tendency of falling out. Otherwise, I would suspect the hydraulics.

- I installed an Allison optical ignition in my 1980 Spitfire last summer. It works fine. My only problem was removing the magnetic pickup rotor from my distributor shaft. It was on really tight.
