If he had hit the wall teh same way on a road course he probably would have died also, that was just a nasty chrash, and with an open cockpit hitting the wall like that speed was probablty irrelevan

I don't believe for a second that it is the fault of people building the superspeedways. I believe it is the fault of bad luck. There is no good way to hit a wall with the top of a car (any car!) but

There is no defense for superspeedways. Shit will continue to happen but we don't need to encourage it by building structures with hard obstacles inches away from cars that are doing way over 200 mph

One wonders (at least I do), if the accident/injuries could have been reduced if the indise wall was at track edge, like on a street course, and like the outside wall. No launch, no flipping, no air.

The real issue here IMHO, is that these cars cannot safely survive an accident at 230mph, 180 they seem to do fine, until the safety technology is good enough to survive a 230mph crash, lets not have
