I checked my Alpine parts manual and my Minx and Super Minx parts manuals.... The Alpine 3 uses the same front hub and the same rear hubs as the Minx Series V & VI and the Super Minx II, III & IV. S

How hot was it? What grade of oil are you using?? I use 20W50 to insure good oil pressure, 10W30 or 10W40 will cause low oil pressure when hot. Rootes said oil pressure should be 30-50 psi at 50 MPH

The Lucas coils seem to fail under extreme temperature conditions-either very hot or very cold. I normally replace my Lucas coils with a '67 VW coils and never have any problems with them. Jan Eyerma

It is possible that the starter gear is jammed in the ring gear-not uncommon with Lucas starters. Put the car in gear and push it a little or use the "starting handle"(crank) and then try the starter
