I used a ball-type pilot bearing once - lasted about 100 miles before needing replacement. Got destroyed most likely from mis-alignment. Have since gone back to carbon type. Siegfried

I got that smell too & thought it was fuel related - turned out it was the battery overcharging big-time from the pesky AT- whatever voltage regulator. You may want to check that out too.

I got my MGB Dayton 14x5 wires to replace my 13x4 p-o-s Dunlops & this what I found: - Daytons look great. They come with rubber band to separate tube from spoke ends and look trued. - Dunlops had 3

60 spokes. I got the 2 MGB rims to try out with the understanding that I could return if they don't fit. The sports&classic guys in CT seem pretty cool. I went ahead and got 185/60-14s mounted anyway
