- It sounds like you have the late block. It should take a gasket with a sealing ring around the inner circumference of the cylinders. The flat gasket won't work you. Don't use the wrong one. Sorry fo

- Mitch--The confusion seems to be with the engine number you gave to Rimmer. The '73 head does indeed take the head gasket for the recessed block, and should have a tab at the rear of the gasket marke
