Hello all,
Well, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra "It ain't over 'till it's
over", and to paraphrase my own triumph list posting of roughly two weeks
ago: "it look like I won da lottery".
Now, before you start begging^h^h^h^h^h^h^hasking for support for your
favorite charity, keep in mind that I only mean "won the lottery" in the
figurative sense.
At any rate, I will be attending the VTR convention in Ft. Worth. Sent in
my registration just yesterday (or was it several days ago). Whatever.
FWIW, Ken, I wish I had the extra time to drive some secondary roads
to/from the event, but that is out of the question for me. I think your
route sounds great, and it should be quite an adventure for your son.
Take lots of pictures and notes and send them to TVT (and NET if you wish).
I will be headed out to Ft. Worth starting on early Sunday the 6th with a
planned arrival at Ft. Worth on late Tuesday the 8th... a "banzai run".
My general route will be I-90, I-88, I-81, I-40, I-30 and possibly a few
"I-"'s in between. We will be staying at or near Charlottesville, VA on
sunday night and then we hope to make it past Memphis, TN on Monday. The
plan is roughly 600 miles per day.
My initial route takes me to the Upstate, NY area where I pickup
navigator/ VTR president Andy Mace and then to John Lye's general area.
The rest of the way is unplanned except to say that "we will be there"
wherever "there" is.
I have yet to call for housing in the Ft. Worth area, I need to contact a
friend that lives about 50 miles from FW to see if he will be around that
week.
I'm going to try to fix up a trailer to my TR6 so I can bring my
Hooooooosiers. Look out on that AutoX course.
So, Yeee hah! I'm going to cowtown! Where's my Stetson?
Ken S. give me a call or drop me an e-mail. Maybe we can meet up en-route.
rml
p.s. It is very likely that my journey will start from Portland, ME...
