Hello!
You're getting this message, either because you are
one of the people that I've talked about with respect
to caravaning to/from VTR '97, or because you just happen
to be on the VTR mailing list.
Whatever the case, this message is to let you know
what plans I have, so that if you are so inclined, we
can ride together if your plans overlap for any of the
trip.
I'll be riding down from Bedford, NH, and, as far as
I know, am the only person driving down from the New
England area. (Bob Lang: I know you aren't going, but
do you know of anybody else from New England going?)
I'll be traveling with my 8-year-old son, Benjamin,
in our Damson 1970 TR6.
I haven't yet sat down with a map and tried to
figure out how I'm getting there, but I've been
trying to put a schedule together, even if not
a route. I currently have no plans for July 7/8,
which I had planned to be my last two days of the
drive to Ft. Worth. I also don't have a plan for
getting back to NH from Texas, other than wanting
to do it in three days (yes, this is about 600
miles a day) and possibly going through the
heartland of America, possibly up the Mississippi
and along the Ohio rivers.
If you'll be covering any of the same territory
on either my trip down or back at around the
same time, it may make sense to try to hook up.
My rough schedule is listed below:
July 3 -- Drive to Stafford, VA
July 4 -- Spend with sister-in-law in Stafford
July 5 -- Drive to Maryville, TN, hopefully along
the Blue Ridge Parkway, depending on what
kind of time we make on the BRP.
July 6 -- Spend with brother-in-law in Maryville, TN
July 7 -- Drive more of the way to Ft. Worth,
stay somewhere along the way.
July 8 -- Finish drive to Ft. Worth, spend night
at Green Oaks Inn
July 9-12 Convention
July 13 -- Day 1 of return trip
July 14 -- Day 2 of return trip
July 15 -- Day 3 of return trip, arrive in NH
July 16 -- go to work, business as usual...
As I said, I really haven't thought about the
details much, as the car I'm taking still has
its rear suspension, half-shafts, and brakes
spread all over the garage as I'm fixing various
things back there (bushings, springs, bump stops,
brakes, boots, etc.) and getting a minor case of
shipwrights disease while I'm at it...
In any case, I hope to see you in Ft. Worth!
