Thanks much for all the messages concerning my Ford powered Courier and
it's weight. The best resource I was referred to is the SOVERN site,
http://sovren.org/. The site lists every car you can imagine based on old
SCCA GCRs.
The best I can say is that SCCA didn't want low volume cars to be
competitive with BMC. My Ford Courier with its lighter Ford Cortina motor
and solid axle is listed as heaver than the Couriers with the MGB engine
and independent rear axle. I have heard old stories of SCCA changing rules
to favor one car over another but this is the first time I have seen it so
obvious.
Maybe I can hire a riding mechanic. The mechanic will have to be a fat one.
